State below in reasonable detail why Forms 10-K, 20-F, 11-K, 10-Q, 10-D, N-SAR, N-CSR, or the transition report or portion thereof, could not be filed within the prescribed time period.

Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. (the “Registrant”) was unable to timely file its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the quarterly period ended September 30, 2007 (the “Report”). The Registrant experienced delays in finalizing its financial statement footnote disclosure for inclusion in the Report due to the complexity and extent of work required in evaluating the reserve against the Registrant’s deferred tax asset. Thus, the Registrant was thus unable to complete and file the Report within the prescribed time period without unreasonable effort or expense.
