8.01. Other Events.
Completion of Acquisition of Granite City Wastewater Treatment Plant
On March 11, 2024, Illinois-American Water Company (“Illinois American Water”), a wholly owned subsidiary of American Water Works Company, Inc. (the “Company”), completed the acquisition of a wastewater treatment plant and related assets from Granite City (the “Seller”) for an aggregate purchase price of $86 million, pursuant to an Asset Purchase Agreement, dated April 6, 2023, as amended September 28, 2023. The Granite City wastewater treatment plant serves approximately 26,000 customers, including 15,500 customers indirectly in surrounding communities. The sale was approved by the Illinois Commerce Commission on January
31, 2024.
